Even Vogue is in on Prime Day!
Amazon’s Influencer Program is Going All Out for Prime Day: July 12-13 is Amazon Prime Day 🎉 Amazon is using its Influencer Program to endorse products & spread awareness for Prime Day. Amazon's been investing in its Influencer Program by creating tools & content development opportunities. Modern Retail reports that Amazon held a few events, like a trip to Mexico, so creators could make content ahead of time for Prime Day. Amazon will also let influencers create shoppable videos, “share Prime Day picks to their followers via commissional links,” and more. While influencers have mixed feelings on Amazon, a big lure is the “commission halo effect” - creators earn for 24 hrs from “the time a customer clicks through their link to Amazon and makes any qualifying purchases across the site.” Read the full article here.
Stranger Things 👑 of Product Placement: Don’t worry if you haven’t seen this season of Stranger Things, there’s no spoilers ahead...except all the product placements. Coke, Lacoste, Jif Peanut Butter, and Reebok were all featured in Season 4 and prove that hit TV shows like Stranger Things are a “valuable vehicle for product placement.” According to this blog, 140 brands have been spotted in Stranger Things since Season 3. Marketing Dive reports that Coke’s placement value is $1.83M and Lacoste's $1.8M despite being featured in just one episode. Netflix subscribers should expect to see more brands on the platform. The streaming service confirmed it will be offering an ad-supported tier by the end of 2022.
No Live Shopping for The US Says TikTok: It looks like “TikTok Shop” (TikTok’s live shopping platform) is no longer coming to the US reports the Financial Times. TikTok tested the waters for Shop by launching it in the UK last year, but it failed to gain traction. Despite live shopping failing to catch on in the west, Asian countries have embraced live shopping for several years. TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, which is popular in China, has a very strong live shopping program. Read more here.

Episode #65: Conner Sherline
Back in December 2020, we spoke to Conner Sherline, the co-founder & CEO of Disco (FKA Co-op Commerce). A lot has happened in two years! Here's a brief overview of some highlights what Sherline & his team are up to now.
First, let's address the obvious. Co-op Commerce changed its name to Disco in March 2022.
Along with the name change, Disco made another announcement. It raised $20M Series A led by Felicis Ventures. Other participant included Shopify, Sugar Capital, Not Boring Fund, and more!
Oh, and most importantly, Sherline became a dad. His daughter Charlotte was born August 2021!
